RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs put up three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to beat Grambling State, 6-0, Tuesday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.

Tech (11-16, 1-2 WAC) led 3-0 after the fifth inning before adding three runs in the sixth off two singles by Jacob Derouen and Ryan Gebhardt, followed by a bases-clearing double by center fielder Corey White to score two runs and give Tech a six-run lead over Grambling (9-14, 3-6 SWAC).

"It feels good to come out here midweek after losing two over the weekend and get a win," senior Corey White said. "We were just trying to get some runs in [in the sixth inning] and had runners in scoring position. I'm just glad I hit [the double] well, and I think it was a real momentum swinger that pumped everybody up and led us to a victory."

Left hander Luke Giddens (1-0) earned the win for the Bulldogs, his first in a Tech uniform. Giddens came on in relief of Adam Derouen in the fifth inning. Giddens held the Tigers hitless and scoreless in two innings of work while striking out two.

The Bulldogs sent six different pitchers to the mound in Tuesday's game, including an appearance by freshman left hander Clark Carlisle, his first of his collegiate career. The Tech pitching staff pitched its fourth combined shutout of the season to earn the victory.

Starter Brock Baker (1-2) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs - four earned - off six hits in five innings of work. Baker was relieved by TJ Murphy, Cory Jordan and Michael Martin, who each pitched one inning apiece.

The Bulldogs were held scoreless until the fifth when Thomas Simoneaux reached on an error by the Grambling first baseman, followed by a single to left field by White to bring up designated hitter Taylor Love. Love came through with a two-RBI single to right field with one out to plate the first two runs for Tech and a 2-0 lead. Love went on to score on an RBI single by Austin Hedges for a 3-0 advantage after five innings.

White led Tech at the plate with a 2-for-3 day with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Hedges, Love, Simoneaux and Gebhardt each recorded an RBI in the win.

Left fielder Darren Farmer was 1-for-2 for the Grambling Tigers, while Jose Longoria, Elias Todman and Hector Mejias each totaled a base hit for the visitors.

Louisiana Tech will return to action at 6 p.m. Friday as the Bulldogs play host to Western Athletic Conference opponent UT Arlington in a three-game set at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.
