BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech received 11 accolades this week as the All-Louisiana track and field marks were announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).
The team is made up of the best times in the various outdoor track and field events as provided by the national best times list and information supplied by the school sports information directors. Special awards were nominated by and voted on by SIDs, but they may not vote for someone from their own school.
Of the 11 marks recognized by the LSWA, Louisiana Tech had three first-place marks, seven second-place marks and one third-place mark. Tech had eight of the 11 recognized marks qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships this season.
Claiming top honors in the state on the women's side was Chloe Lautric, who led Louisiana with a high jump mark of 5-10 (1.78m) set at the Texas Relays on March 29. On the men's side, Jarvis Gotch led the state in the long jump with a mark of 26-0.25 (7.93m) and Joshua Cox led Louisiana with a javelin throw of 228-4 (69.61m). Both marks were set at the UTEP Invitational in El Paso, Texas - host of the 2015 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
