Dec. 3, 2015 RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech defender Donya Salomon-Ali was named to the 2015 NCAA Division I All-Central Region Second Team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Salomon-Ali was a rock for the team this past season along the back line with her powerful heading and ball-winning tackles, helping LA Tech to a 12-win season and its second straight appearance in the Conference USA Tournament.
The senior's physical presence helped the Lady Techsters only allow 15 goals while producing eight shutouts, including four straight to end the season and qualify for the league tourney.
One of those four shutouts came against national power and league champion North Texas in the regular season finale.
A native of LaSalle, Quebec, Canada, she saw action in 18 games with 15 starts despite having to overcome a knee injury late in the season.
The two-time All-Conference USA selection sparingly played at striker as well, registering two game-winning goals which led to a C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Salomon-Ali was one of 15 players from C-USA to be named to the NSCAA All-Central Region teams.
