@LATechSB Hosts Cleveland State, Lyon on Tuesday

March 9, 2015

RUSTON, La. - After a weekend off due to weather cancellations, Louisiana Tech's softball team hopes to return to action Tuesday with a pair of non-conference games slated for the Lady Techsters Softball Complex.

Weather pending, Louisiana Tech (13-5) is scheduled to host Cleveland State (10-5) at 1 p.m. CT and Lyon College (5-6) at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday in Tech's first action at home since Feb. 20.

Louisiana Tech enters midweek action with Krysta Tusch's .429 average and seven home runs leading the team while Bianca Duran has added six home runs for LA Tech. Tusch's seven home runs is currently fourth in Conference USA with three others tied for the league lead with eight.

The Lady Techsters last played on March 1 in a three-team tournament that was originally scheduled to be played in Ruston but inclement weather and field conditions forced Louisiana Tech officials to move the tournament to Southern University in Baton Rouge. Since then LA Tech has had its March 4 game at ULM postponed and it's three-game series at Western Kentucky cancelled.

Prior to the tournament that was moved to Baton Rouge, Tech had a game against Lamar cancelled and a game against Stephen F. Austin postponed. Tech's last home game was a 10-6 win over Lamar on Feb. 20.

Cleveland State enters the week having won five of its last six games, including a 10-2, five-inning win over Northern Kentucky on March 8 after an 11-3, five-inning win over the Norse the previous day in a four-team tournament in Canton, Georgia.

The Vikings head to the Pelican State for a week-long trip with games scheduled at Louisiana Tech (Tuesday), Southeastern Louisiana (Wednesday) and Southern (Saturday) with a stop in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a contest against Southern Miss on Thursday.

Cleveland State is led by Erica McNew's .528 batting average as the Viking catcher has 19 hits and 19 RBI with 18 runs scored while drawing 14 walks on the year. Susan Knight (4-2, 1.75 ERA) leads CSU in the circle with five starts and six appearances this year.

Lyon is led by Lexi Reyes' .440 batting average as she has registered 11 hits and six RBI this season in 11 games played. The Scots pitching staff is paced by Ashten Welch who has posted a 3-2 record and 4.50 ERA in six starts in the circle.

Tuesday's games are currently set to be played as scheduled but game times could change based on the inclement weather projected in the North Central Louisiana area through Tuesday morning. Stay tuned to LATechSports.com and @LATechSB on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates.
