Oct. 27, 2016 RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's cross country teams are set to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will compete in the 2016 Conference USA Championships, which will be hosted by Charlotte Saturday morning at Frank Liske Park.
The Conference USA Championships gets underway Saturday morning with the women's 5k race beginning at 8 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8k race at approximately 9 a.m. CT at Frank Liske Park in Charlotte.
This year's championships feature 11 men's squads and 13 women's teams, while both races are free to the general public.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs will be competing against two of the top cross country squads in the country with both UTEP and Middle Tennessee entering the weekend ranked in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches' Poll at No. 21 and No. 29, respectively. Sophomore Manoah Kiptum has been the Bulldogs' top finisher on the men's side in every race this season, including three top five finishes.
The Lady Techsters will be led by sophomore Kacie Kaufman, who has also been LA Tech's top finisher in each meet this season and recorded two top 10 finishes in four races, including coming in first place in LA Tech's home meet, the Mook Triple-Duals, in September.
