NEW ORLEANS - A late-inning rally fell short for Louisiana Tech as the Bulldogs dropped the weekend finale, 9-6, to the New Orleans Privateers Sunday afternoon at Maestri Field.

With LA Tech (2-1) trailing 8-2 after six complete innings of play, the Bulldogs put together a big inning in the seventh by plating four runs on five base hits, but New Orleans (3-0) was able to put a stop to the damage and clinch the victory over Tech in the final game of the MLB Urban Invitational.

Braden Bristo (0-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs on four hits and two walks before being relieved with no outs in the fourth inning in favor of righthander Graham Ahlrich, who pitched two innings of one-hit baseball. Zack Hamilton pitched a third of an inning in the sixth and gave up two runs -- one earned -- on a hit and a walk before Jorge Flores came on to pitch 0.2 innings while allowing two runs -- one earned -- on two hits. Adam Atkins finished out the game for the Bulldogs by allowing just one hit and striking out three in the final two innings.

UNO starter Jordan Priddle picked up the win on the mound after allowing four runs -- three earned -- on five hits and just one walk in six innings. Ryan Leone came on in relief for the Privateers and gave up two runs on three hits before Daniel Martinez earned the save by holding LA Tech scoreless in the final 2.1 innings of play.

LA Tech got on the board first thanks to single by Cody Daigle and an error by the Privateers on a failed pickoff attempt in the second inning, which led to an RBI ground out by Jonathan Washam to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short-lived though as New Orleans put up three runs in the bottom half of the second after the Privateers had a single up the middle then back-to-back triples to right field. UNO added to its lead in the fourth when a lead-off walk resulted in a failed pickoff attempt by Bristo and then a two-run home run by Kyle Bracey made it a 5-1 deficit for LA Tech.

The Bulldogs tacked on a run in the sixth thanks to a leadoff single by Bryce Stark and a double by Raphael Gladu, which set up Marshall Boggs who drove in Stark on a ground ball to shortstop to make it a three-run game, but it was short-lived once again as UNO scored three runs on a pair of hits and a Bulldog error in the bottom of the sixth to extend its lead to 8-2.

In the seventh, LA Tech began to rally with a leadoff walk by Brent Diaz and a double by Sean Ullrich to force UNO to go to its bullpen for the first time to bring in Leone. Jordan Washam drove in Diaz on a ground ball before a sacrifice fly by Chase Lunceford sent Ullrich home to cut the lead to 8-4. An infield single by Stark set up Gladu's RBI triple to right field to make it a three-run deficit once again. Boggs came through once again with an RBI single to make it an 8-6 game, but the rally was cut short when Martinez came in to pitch for UNO and stopped the bleeding for the Privateers.

UNO added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Dakota Dean led off the inning with a solo home run to left-center to give the Privateers a 9-6 advantage.

Louisiana Tech had four players record multiple-hit games with Gladu and Stark each going 2-for-5 on the afternoon, while Daigle and Ullrich were both 2-for-4 in the game. Marshall Boggs was also 1-for-3 with two RBI's. Chase Lunceford had a sacrifice fly while both Jonathan and Jordan Washam each drove in a run on Sunday.

Louisiana Tech returns to Ruston for a five-game home stretch beginning with two midweek games against UALR at 6 p.m. Tuesday and UL-Lafayette at 6 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
