Jedlicki, Leiendecker Place 1st and 4th at Track Kat Klash

The Lady Techsters earned 10th as a team.

HOUSTON – Freshmen Danielle Jedlicki and Allie Leiendecker earned all-tournament honors by placing first and fourth to lead Louisiana Tech women's bowling team at Track Kat Klash.

As a team, the 17th-ranked Lady Techsters placed 10th in a competitive field. Tech went 7-6 on the weekend, including a pair of wins over ranked teams.

Jedlicki led all bowlers with a 221.00 pin average, nearly 4 better than her closest competitor. Leiendecker's 213.40 average won a close race for fourth over Julia Huren of Arkansas State (212.80). Lindsay Manning (33rd) and Kaitlyn Eder (42nd) also earned top-50 finishes.

"The first two days of the tournament went pretty well for us. Having a record of 7-3 in this field is a pretty good start, but Sunday the pins didn't quite fall our way. We bowled well in all three matches but lost two games sevens by not executing down the stretch," said LA Tech head coach Matt Nantais. "In the last match, Youngstown State made shots when they needed to. We threw the ball well too, but had some bad breaks. We'll get to work on a few things this week to prepare for our next tournament in Jackson."

The Lady Techsters were in eighth place after the first day of competition. Tech opened the day with a 930-893 win over no. 20 Duquesne and followed it with wins over Southern (904-813) and Texas Southern (901-799). The lone loss of the day came against no. 8 North Carolina A&T (1,003-853), but Tech bounced back to beat Upper Iowa (972-880) in the final Baker match of the day.

Jedlicki and Leiendecker shined in the second day's traditional matches. The duo led Tech to wins over no. 4 Nebraska (982-887), Jackson State (1,090-888), and Alabama State (930-803). The Lady Techsters fell to no. 5 Sam Houston State (976-873) and no. 2 McKendree (1,038-888).

Thanks in large part to Jedlicki and Leiendecker, Tech sat in seventh place after the first two days of action and headed into Sunday's bracket play with a chance to finish as high as fifth. The Lady Techsters battled in their first two matches of the day, but fell in the seventh game to no. 14 Tulane (185-176) and no. 20 Duquesne (214-203). Tech and no. 23 Youngstown State battled to a 2-2 draw in the final match of the day, but the Penuins took the final two games to place ninth.

Tech returns to action next weekend when it travels to Jackson State's Sonic Boom Invitational the weekend of Nov. 8-10
