No. 21 LA Tech Wraps Up Action at SFA Classic

DALLAS – The No. 21 ranked Louisiana Tech bowling team wrapped up action on Sunday at the SFA Stormin' Ladyjack Classic, finishing 11th among a crowded and talented field that featured all top-25 ranked teams.

Tournament Results

"This was a very challenging weekend for us," head coach Matt Nantais remarked. "With every team being ranked, it is by far the toughest tournament to bowl this season. Unfortunately, this weekend, we gave away a few close matches and didn't close out a few of the narrow results we encountered. Today we came out and looked fresh and ended the day with a 2-1 record. We have a long break before our next event, so we will clean up some issues we have been dealing with these last two events."

The Lady Techsters finished the weekend strong, posting a 2-1 record on Sunday. The team began with one traditional team match, and took down No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater by a score of 978-926.

Then, Tech began bracket play and carried their momentum from the previous match into a first-round victory over No. 9 Tulane. Tech raced out of the gates, taking the first three games (163-121, 167-157, 201-193) before Tulane rattled off wins in games four and five (166-148, 168-161) to draw to within one game in the best-of-seven matchup. However, the Lady Techsters showed resolve and bowled their best game of the day, winning handily (245-180).

Tech then moved on to face off against No. 24 Adelphi, but fell, 4-1 (203-184, 149-201, 222-205, 235-202, 253-190) to end the tournament.

The Techsters also posted a victory in Saturday's traditional team format, handily defeating No. 5 Sam Houston State, 1,041-860.

LA Tech also saw three individuals finish among the top 35 in the traditional team matches, as sophomore Kaitlyn Eder (201.17 avg.) finished 12th, sophomore Ashley Channell (197.00 avg.) finished 17th and freshman Emily Rettig (186.50 avg.) finished 31st .

The Lady Techsters will take some time to practice up before the USBC Sectionals on March 8-10, followed by the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt on March 15-17.
