BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Tech Track & Field spent the day before Easter competing at the 2019 LSU Alumni Gold where the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters notched 22 top 10 marks and 14 top five finishes on Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.
During Saturday's meet, Louisiana Tech's
Ahmad Young brought home first place in the men's 110m hurdles after he finished the race with a wind-aided time of 14.28 (+2.1).
William Harrell continued to impress for the Bulldogs in the distance events after he finished the men's 5k in second place with a time of 15:27.91.
On the women's side, both
Sydney Anderson and
Leah Scott finished in second place in jumping events. Anderson placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-8 (1.73m), while Scott placed second in the triple jump with her mark of 39-11.25 (12.17m).
Jada Branch followed closely behind with a third place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 38-11.5 (11.87m).
For the second week in a row,
Monique Apuakehau set a Louisiana Tech school record in the women's pole vault after the senior finished fifth in the event with a mark of 12-3.5 (3.75m).
"There were some bright spots today," head coach
Gary Stanley said following the meet. "We set another school record in the women's vault and also put together a nice performance in the women's 4x400. It was also nice to see a good performance out of Will Harrell, who finished second in the men's 5k."

LA Tech returns to action next Thursday when the men and women travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays April 25-27.
