Lady Techsters Place 6th at Northeast Invitational After 11 Straight Wins

CROYDEN, Penn. – The no. 11 Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters put forth a dominating performance on Friday and Saturday en route to a 6th place finish in a Northeast Invitational field that included 17 ranked teams.

Tech won 11 straight matches to open the tournament. The Lady Techsters took down eight ranked teams in those 11 victories, and finished with an 8-2 record against other ranked teams.

Allie Leiendecker put forth Tech's best individual performance of the weekend, finishing in 21st after averaging 192.60. Danielle Jedlicki (35th – 185.40) and Lindsay Manning (40th – 184.20) joined Leiendecker in the top-40 finishers. Kaitlyn Eder (43rd – 183.00) and Ashley Channell (52nd - 179.60) rounded out the best five for the Lady Techsters.

"This weekend was a very successful weekend for our program. Bowling on the East Coast we were able to see some teams that we typically wouldn't see through the year. Over the first two days we had some up and downs and some really close matches that we were able to execute at the end to win. Today we found a few flaws that we need to work on. But going 11 and two at any event every coach would love to have that record including myself. We have a short week before we head out to another event in Missouri which will also be a very challenging and tough field."

The Lady Techsters opened the tournament in third place after a strong performance on Friday. Tech won all five of its Baker matches on the day, highlighted by triumphs over no. 7 North Carolina A&T (951-923) and no. 23 Monmouth (927-909). The Lady Techsters completed an undefeated day with blowout victories over Molloy (962-859), no. 21 Wilmington (Del.) (971-865), and (RV) Chesnut Hill (935-835).

Saturday saw Tech dominate the competition once again, emerging with five more wins and the fifth most total pins heading into Sunday's bracket action. The Lady Techsters picked up wins over St. Francis (954-844) and no. 17 Farleigh Dickinson (962-898) to open the day. They followed those victories by squeaking by no. 21 Adelphi (886-883), no. 19 Sacred Heart (926-922), and no. 14 Delaware State (894-887) to remain undefeated.

Louisiana Tech entered Sunday's bracket action with a chance to finish as high as third after finishing with the fifth-most total pins through Saturday's matches. The Lady Techsters opened Sunday with a 4-2 (199-158, 158-181, 175-165, 206-191, 195-170, 246-176) victory over no. 8 Stephen F. Austin, the defending national champions, for their 11th straight win on the weekend.

Tech was unable to maintain its momentum for the remainder of the day, however, falling 4-1 (180-182, 202-137, 157-182, 191-216, 171-181) in the next match to no. 19 Sacred Heart and 4-2 (180-168, 161-197, 158-177, 150-228, 195-179, 159-182) to no. 9 Youngstown State.

The Lady Techsters will be back in action next weekend in St. Louis, Mo. They will compete at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, which is hosted by Maryville University.
