Five Sign with LA Tech Soccer

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Kevin Sherry announced on Thursday the signing of five players that will join the Lady Techster Soccer program in the fall of 2021.

The five incoming freshmen signing National Letters of Intent include Libe Banuelos, Jordan Porter, Avery Kyle, Greta Streich and Madison Rabideau.

"It was essential we used this recruiting class to give the squad a better balance by filling in some key positions, and addressing the areas of weakness that have been evident over the last few seasons within the team," said Sherry.  "This recruiting class brings energy, a strong work ethic, athleticism, high levels of technical ability and high academic standards.

"All of them have worked extremely hard for this moment and I am confident they will all come in and contribute, not only on the field but also in the classroom and community too."

Banuelos is an athletic goalkeeper from Bilbao, Spain who has been playing in soccer clubs since the sage of seven.  Most recently, she played for Athletic de Bilbao and Basque Selection U17 in the Spanish Championships, reaching the finals.

She totaled 1,620 minutes in net in the First National League in Spain with a goals against average of 0.67.  For the 2020-21 season, she is the first keeper with Bizkerre.

Porter is a speedy player who can player at either defense or attack.  The Cypress, Texas native played as a freshman and sophomore at Cypress Ranch High School before giving up high school play to participate in the U.S. Girls Development Academy as a junior.

In her two years of high school, she was among the district leaders in goals scored, averaging 10 per season, and was an All-District selection.  On the club level, she was a member of South Texas ODP in 2016 and 2017, the Houston Dash from 2017-20 and is currently playing with the Rise Soccer Club.

Kyle is an energetic, box-to-box midfielder from Portland, Oregon who has lettered in varsity soccer and track and field at Cleveland High School, helping them to two district titles.

In soccer, she has totaled 27 goals and 23 assists while earning multiple accolades including Rookie of the Year (2017), Second Team All-League (2017, 2019), First Team All-League (2018) and Best Offensive Player (2019).

On the club level, she has played for the four-time Oregon State Cup champions Oregon United FC while also participating in USYS National Championships in 2018.

Streich, a technically-sound left-sided player also calls Portland, Oregon home.  The wingback defender stars at Grant High School where she has lettered in soccer and track and field.

She played alongside fellow signee Kyle to win four Oregon State Cup championships on the club level.

The last signee Rabideau is a defender who can step into midfield.  She has lettered in soccer and basketball at Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada.

She has scored 16 goals in three years, earning All-Sierra League and Team MVP honors.  On the club level, she has participated with Nevada ODP, Carson Valley Quakes and Nevada Players North Premier NPL (ranked second in the state and seventh in the nation).

"We recruited them all because they are committed to personal growth, are passionate about the game, are intrinsically motivated, can multi-task to play in different positions and have shown a positive attitude," said Sherry.  "These recruits fully reflect our four pillars: Service, Passion, Fearless and Respect."
