LA Tech Set to Host Final Home Series with WKU

The Bulldogs and Hilltoppers open the three-game set Friday at 6 p.m.

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech is set to host Western Kentucky for the final three-game home series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Senior day will take place prior to first pitch on Saturday afternoon with the ceremony set to begin at 1:40 p.m. The CUSA.tv broadcast will start at 1:30 p.m.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (33-17, 15-9 C-USA)
LA Tech heads into the final home conference series having lost its last series two games to three to Florida Atlantic last weekend. The Bulldogs stand tied for third with FAU in the conference standings and just one game out of second place behind UTSA.
 
Bulldog right fielder Steele Netterville has been on a tear as of late. In the last nine games, Netterville is hitting .395 with three home runs, three doubles, nine runs scored and 16 RBI. The fifth-year senior also broke the program doubles record on Saturday with 59. He is fourth in the conference this year with 58 RBI and second on the ball club.
 
Cole McConnell is right in front of Netterville with 63 RBI in the clean-up spot in the order. McConnell sits in second place in conference in RBI.
 
In a nine-game stretch, Logan McLeod is hitting .385 with a .568 on-base percentage. The sophomore third baseman now leads the conference with a .510 on-base percentage during C-USA play.
 
Taylor Young has now recorded 271 career hits and enters the weekend just eight hits shy of the program record that Hunter Wells set just last season.
 
Bulldog closer Kyle Crigger has appeared in the last four contests notching his 10th save of the season Wednesday night at Northwestern State. The right-hander leads the conference in saves and sits just two saves behind the program record at 12 held by Caleb Dudley back in 2011. Crigger is first in the conference in saves and is second in ERA (1.33).

ABOUT WESTERN KENTUCKY (17-30, 7-17 C-USA)
Western Kentucky rolls into play having won three out of their last four games and taking two out of three from UAB over the weekend for their second conference series win this year.
 
WKU outfielder Matthew Meyer earned C-USA Hitter of the Week honors after batting an incredible .471 while blasting two home runs and two doubles.
 
Tristan Garcia leads the offense with a .321 batting average having played in all 47 games on the year. Garcia also leads the club in doubles (17) and second in runs scored (34).

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs and Hilltoppers will meet for the 43rd time on Friday night with LA Tech leading the all-time series 24-18. It has been three years since the two schools met for a conference series when LA Tech took two out of three games in Ruston. LA Tech and WKU met once last year in the conference tournament and the Bulldogs came out victorious run-ruling the Hilltoppers 14-4 in eight innings.
