Woodbridge, Va. – A big day on the lanes for No. 10 Louisiana Tech moved them up two spots to fourth at the Hawk Classic at Bowl America Woodbridge on Saturday afternoon.
After one more game of qualifying on Sunday morning, the top four teams will battle for the tournament title in bracket play.
The Bulldogs finished the day with a 5-0 record and 5,431 total pinfall. Tech is 7-3 overall, with a 10,726-pin count through the first two days.
Louisiana Tech opened the day with a 1,012-960 win over Monmouth. The Bulldogs had eight splits in the opening match but were able to string enough strikes together to stay in the plus. Allie Leiendecker led the scoring with a 219, and Abbie Leiendecker was right behind at 212. Danielle Jedlicki was the only other Bulldog in the plus at 205. Patricia Rosales and Kylee Trexler rounded out the scoring with 190 and 186, respectively.
Tech would nearly have a clean game against No. 17 Sacred Heart as they started to move up the standings. Abbie Leiendecker's 226 and Rosales' 223 led the way for a 1,079-975 win. Jedlicki shot 213, then Trexler at 211, and Allie Leiendecker shot 206 to round out the scoring.
The Bulldogs thrived in the transition and started to make a big move in games three and four.Â
Jedlicki left a stone nine sandwiched between four and five baggers to shoot 258. Abbie Leiendecker came up with a big 229 in the leadoff position, and Rosales anchored with a 226. Trexler finished at 205, and Allie Leiendecker had an even 200 to close out the 1,118-1,042 victory over No. 23 Delaware State.
Trexler left the baby split in the second before stringing 10 in a row for a 268 to lead the Bulldogs in their best game on the weekend. Abbie Leiendecker and Jedlicki kept pace with the top individual bowlers in the tournaments, with 236 and 232, respectively. Allie Leiendecker (201) and Rosales (205) closed the 1,142-917 win over No. 25 Morgan State.
Allie Leiendecker opened with the front five and then closed with the back four on her way to a 257. Rosales finished strong with a 220, while Trexler had a clean 204. Abbie Leiendecker shot 202, and Jedlicki closed with a 197.
Abbie Leiendecker and Jedlicki are tied for 14th overall with a 1,105 total through five games. Allie Leiendecker sits 32nd with 1,083, Kyle Trexler is 34th at 1,074, and Rosales is 38th at 1,064.
