ORLANDO, Fla. — Seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech finished the second day of Destination Orlando in eighth place with a 9,882 total pinfall after going 3-2 at SMF Sky Lanes in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday.
Louisiana Tech opened the day with their highest set of the tournament so far against Florida A&M. All five Bulldogs finished with 195 or higher. Kylee Trexler led the way with a 258 in the leadoff spot. Allyson Sand shot 212, followed by Jenna Stretch at 206, and Paulina Avalos with a 201, were the Bulldogs in the plus. Despite having a split in the seventh, Abbie Leiendecker rounded out the scoring with a 195. Tech would take the match 1,072-612.
Scoring dropped in the second match as the Bulldogs finished with 12 opens but would still pull out the win. After a 10-pin in the second, Trexler strung together eight in a row to lead Tech with a 269. Leiendecker was the only Bulldog over with a seven-bagger for a 232. LA Tech would beat Emmanuel 997-784.
The Bulldog's scoring dropped again against No. 4 Vanderbilt; this time, it would cost them the match 1,033-959. Trexler led the team again with a 225 to give her a 752 through three. Stretch was the only other Tech bowler to reach even at 200, and Leiendecker was just under at 192.
Tech found the win column again against No. 13 Tulane and was in the plus for just the third time in the tournament. The Bulldogs would come away with a 1,001-944 victory. Leiendecker (243), Sand (213), and Stretch (200) all reached 200. Rachel Ong rolled an 189 in her first game of the day.
The Bulldogs had one low game in the previous three matches, which continued into the fifth against No. 18 Sacred Heart. That low score would cost Tech in a loss, 985-967. Stretch would have a team-high 233 to finish with a 633 over the last three of the day. Sand would shoot 207, and Trexler rebounded with a 191.
Trexler finished with 1,099 (219.8 avg.) for her five games to finish 12th overall. Leiendecker finished 22nd with a 1,039 (207.8 avg.) and Stretch had a 1,018 (203.6 avg.) to finish 26th. Sand rolled a 786 (196.5 avg.) for four games.
