Bulldogs Finish Eighth at Motive Ladyjack Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. — The seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech bowling team went 2-1 on the final day of the Motive Ladyjack Classic to finish in eighth place at Sheridan Lanes.

Louisiana Tech opened the day with a thrilling win over No. 21 McKendree. The Bulldogs dropped the first game 190-173 before tying the score with a 213-162 win in game two. Tech continued to roll the ball well, but the pins didn't fall in their favor as they would drop game three 232-192. The two teams would continue to trade wins, with the Tech taking game four 217-195 and the Bearcats winning game 207-201, partly because of the Bulldogs leaving the big four in the 10th.

With their backs against the wall, LA Tech didn't give up and worked through an open in the sixth to force a game seven. It came down to the final frame again, but this time, the Bulldogs marked and came away with a 209-202 win. Tech dominated the final game, in which they threw nine strikes, including the last five, to win 246-153 and take the match 4-3.

Tech was in another close battle with No. 2 Arkansas State. The Bulldogs got up 2-0 after two single-digit wins, 206-201 and 203-195. LA Tech's scoring in games three and four dropped, but they would still have a 3-1 advantage. The Red Wolves came away with game three 193-160, while the Dogs took game four 168-156. The two teams would split games five and six, with ASU winning the fifth 183-178 and Tech closing out the match with a 183-180 to take the match 4-2.

The final set of the tournament would go the full seven. Tech would fall behind after dropping the first two to No. 11 Stephen F. Austin, 234-203 and 233-167. The Bulldogs would bounce back to tie it up after winning game three 193-178 and the fourth 211-182. The fifth would come down to the 10th frame, with the Ladyjacks taking it by four pins, 178-174. Both teams would shoot in the plus in game six, going Tech's way 232-203. SFA would come away with the final game 198-187 and win the match 4-3.
