HARAHAN, La. — The seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech bowling team picked up three more wins but remained 10th with a total pinfall of 9,558 after the second day of the Colonial Lanes Classic at Colonial Lanes.
LA Tech opened the day with a strong 979, but UAB rolled a 1,076 to take the match. Jenna Stretch and Paulina Avalos were both in the plus with 235 and 211, respectively. Rachel Ong had a 187, and Kylee Trexler shot 183.
Scoring dropped in the second match, but the Bulldogs came away with a 900-874 victory over No. 24 Oklahoma Christian. Ong rolled a 218, and Stretch anchored the lineup with a 190.
Tech finally got into the plus as a team for the first time this tournament with a 1,046-965 win over Alabama A&M. Abbie Leiendecker had the highest game of the day for the 'Dogs with a 256. Trexler was the only other Tech bowler over at 233. Rounding out the scoring was Ong at 195, Arianna Araujo at 188, and Stretch with 184.
LA Tech couldn't keep the momentum going in the next match and fell 1,033-866 to No. 8 Sam Houston. Ong (200) and Trexler (193) were high for the Bulldogs.
Bouncing right back, Tech rolled another game in the plus. This time, they beat No. 17 Wichita State 1,053-1,021. Avalos connected on eight strikes for a 246 to lead the way. Stretch closed out the day with a 226, and Ong shot 202. Trexler and Leiendecker rounded out the scoring at 192 and 187, respectively.
Stretch finished 28th overall with a 1,009, and Ong had a 1,002 total to finish 34thg. Trexler shot 791, and Leiendecker had a 767 for four. Avalos had a 457 for her two games on the day.
UP NEXT
Louisiana Tech will be able to move up to seventh place during the bracket portion of the tournament. The Bulldogs will open the day with UAB.
