No. 7 Bulldogs in Fourth at Track Kat Klash

HOUSTON — The seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech bowling team found themselves fourth after the second day of the Track Kat Klash at Emerald Bowl.

With only eight sets in the plus all weekend, Louisiana Tech found themselves 26 pins back of being able to defend their title heading into the final game. The Bulldogs ended with their second-highest set of the weekend with 985 to beat and go around No. 16 Maryland Eastern Shore. Tech must win all three best-of-seven Baker matches tomorrow to claim the championship.

LA Tech started slow but was still able to come away with wins in the first two matches. The Bulldogs took down Jackson State 878-812 in the first. Paulina Avalos and Abbie Leiendecker picked up splits in the middle of the game to roll in the plus. Avalos finished at 210, and Leiendecker rolled 203.

The team's total was just enough to win against Lewis. Avalos rolled another 200 at 204 to help the Bulldogs win 896-881.

Tech reached 943 in the third but couldn't top No. 9 Maryville's 995. Kylee Trexler stung a six-bagger together for a 236. Jenna Stretch was just under at 191.

The Bulldogs dropped back under 900 in the loss to No. 24 Oklahoma Christian, 959-895. Rachel Ong threw a 247 in her second game of the day.

Ong finished with a 267 against UMES to roll a 696 on the afternoon. LA Tech would pass the Hawks with the 985-949 victory. Arianna Araujo was the other Bulldog at 200 with a 203, followed by Avalos at 190.

Avalos was the high Bulldog in the traditional portion, scoring 933 for all five games to finish 27th. Stretch wasn't far behind at 32 with a 920.

UP NEXT
Louisiana Tech will start with No. 11 Stephen F. Austin in the best-of-seven Baker matches tomorrow. The Bulldogs must beat SFA, No. 2 Arkansas State, and No. 8 Sam Houston to win the tournament.
