KENOSHA, Wis. — Louisiana Tech rolled a 4,976 during the traditional portion of the Motive Ladyjack Classic on Saturday, but in the high-scoring day, the Bulldogs dropped to ninth at Sheridan Lanes.
LA Tech opened with their lowest set of the day against No. 1 Jacksonville State. Arianna Araujo and Rachel Ong were the only Bulldogs to shoot in the 190s. Araujo finished with a 199, while Ong rolled a 190. The Gamecocks took the match 1,016-931.
With an odd number of teams, Tech bowled unopposed in the second match and rolled a 1,009. Allyson Sand came in and led the way with a 245. Araujo had a 211, and Paulina Avalos was the other Bulldog in the plus with a 207.
Scoring dipped as the transition started, and the Bulldogs would fall to No. 11 Stephen F. Austin 983-947. Avalos was high with a 219, while Jenna Stretch returned to the lineup and rolled a 192.
LA Tech would score their high two sets of the day to close out day two. Stretch, Araujo, and Abbie Leiendecker combined to shoot a 697. However, it wasn't enough, as No. 5 Nebraska came away with the 1,135-1,022 victory. Stretch had the highest game of the day for Tech with a 266. Araujo had a 228, and Leiendecker was at 203.
The Bulldogs got back into the win column on the final match of the day, taking down Lewis 1,059-894. Leiendecker and Avalos were both over 230 at 236 and 232, respectively. Stretch was also in the plus at 213, while Kylee Trexler returned to the lineup to roll a 193.
Araujo was the only Bulldog to bowl all five games and finished with a 997 to tie for 29th overall. Stretch had 850, Avalos at 815, and Leiendecker with 789 for four games each.
