Bulldogs Open Mid-Winter Invitational 4-1

JONESBORO, Ark. – Louisiana Tech's bowling team opened the Mid-Winter Invitational with a 4-1 record at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center. The seventh-ranked Bulldogs are in sixth with a 4,985.

LA Tech started the first match slow but ended with a nearly perfect game in a dominating 1,019-769 win over Grambling. After a 162, 175, 202, and 192, the Bulldogs started the final game with the front 10 before a 9-pin ended the run at perfection, giving Tech a 288.

In a roller coaster of a day, Tech would carry that momentum into the second match with a 232 in game one against No. Arkansas State. The Bulldogs got behind after games of 166 and 159. They would quickly make up the 39-pin deficit with a 222 to take a one-pin advantage heading into the final game. Putting enough marks together for a 199, the Bulldogs would come away with a 978-966 win.

Tech finally put together a consistent set, but No. 5 Vanderbilt had a few more breaks to come away with the match, 1,040-1,023. The Bulldogs put together games of 188, 203, 180, 194, and 258, while the Commodores shot 202, 223, 197, 193, and 225.

The Bulldogs rolled their lowest set of the day but got by No. 23 McKendree 948-902, thanks to a 245 game five. Tech opened with games of 181, 184, 160, and 178 and were down 21 heading into the final game.

Tech picked up their third 1,000 performance of the day with a 1,017-814 victory over Alabama A&M. LA Tech finished the day with games of 191, 252, 167, 214, and 193.
