JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. — Kylee Trexler fell to Hailey Bozych of Lindenwood University in the quarterfinals of the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships Wednesday morning at Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown, Ky.
Trexler took an early lead with a turkey to open game one, but splits in the fourth, seventh, and ninth frames would allow her to shoot only a 178. Bozych put together a four-bagger in the middle of a 236 to take a 58-pin lead.
In the second game, Trexler fought back, gaining 16 pins with a score of 204. However, a split in the middle of the game prevented her from closing the gap anymore. Bozych rolled a 188, maintaining her lead with a score of 424-382.
Bozych found her mark on her way to a 247, leaving only three 10 pins and a nine in the fill ball. Trexler was again plagued by splits, leaving two in the first four frames, but she was still able to come away with a 202. The national Rookie of the Year fell 671-584.
