RUSTON – Louisiana Tech will host a doubleheader on Saturday against Southern Arkansas and Louisiana Christian for its home opener at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (1-2)
Louisiana Tech is back in action two weeks after opening the 2025 spring season at the Hurricane Invite in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Bulldogs dropped matches to Arkansas State and Tulsa while also picking up a decisive 6-1 victory over Wyoming.
Zoie Epps was named Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week after going a perfect 3-0 in singles without dropping a single set at the No. 2 position. The sophomore improved to 15-2 in singles (fall/spring combined).
Freshman Maria Tsironi was also impressive in her collegiate debut in duals. She went 2-1, claiming victories over Arkansas State and Wyoming at the No. 3 spot.
In doubles, the duo of newcomers Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric had the best showing. The tandem went 2-0 with wins of 6-2 and 6-4 over Arkansas State and Tulsa, respectively, on court three.
ABOUT SOUTHERN ARKANSAS (0-0)
Southern Arkansas is ranked 18th in the country in the NCAA Division II ITA national team rankings. The Muleriders are coming off a 20-5 season a year ago, reaching the championship of the Great American Conference Tournament.
They are led by 2024 ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year Amelie Gindl who led SAU with a 16-2 singles record, playing primarily at the No. 3 position. They also return Josie Holderbach who lost only one dual match last season, going 13-1 with most of those wins coming at the No. 4 spot.
Gindle and newcomer Maria Fiacan are both in the ITA national singles rankings. Gindl is ranked 12th in the country, the highest ranking in program history, while Fiacan is ranked 48th.
Saturday will mark the 23rd meeting between LA Tech and Southern Arkansas on the courts. The Bulldogs have never lost to the Muleriders, owning a 22-0 record in the series. The two programs met last season with the 'Dogs winning, 5-0.
ABOUT LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN (0-0)
Louisiana Christian is back for its second season after the program was reinstated last season. Leading the way is second-year head coach Alexandra Starkova who starred for LA Tech from 2013-16.
The Wildcats look to improve upon last season when they went 6-14. Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez returns after recording a team-best 10 singles wins last year as a freshman, playing mostly at the No. 4 spot. Also back is Patricia Principal Pineda who played at the top position for the most part last season.
LA Tech and LCU met for the first time ever last season with the Bulldogs winning, 4-0.
