Bulldogs Pick Up Three Wins on Day Two of Prairie View Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas — Louisiana Tech rolled a 5,313 in the traditional portion of the Prairie View Invitational on Saturday to move up to seventh at the Internation Training and Research Center.

Rachel Ong and Abbie Leiendecker got the Bulldogs (45-29) rolling early. Both left a four-pin in the first frame before stringing an eight-bagger. Ong continued with the first two in the 10th frame before leaving a seven-pin for a 289. Leiendecker left the 4-7 on the first ball but converted the spare and struck in the fill ball for a 268. Kylee Trexler led off with a 205. LA Tech would take down No. 4 Youngstown State 1,112-1,038.

Kylee Trexler got in on the striking in game two. Leading off with the front six, Trexler would leave a seven-pin in the seventh and the 2-4-7 in the eighth before striking out for a 266. Ong continued her hot start with 10 strikes for a 246. Paulina Avalos would shoot a 194, and Leiendecker rolled a 193. LA Tech would cruise to a 1,061-960 win over host Prairie View A&M.

Trexler, Leiendecker, and Ong continued the rise up the individual standings. Trexler had a 255 to give her a 726 for the first three. Leiendecker shot 234 for a 695, and Ong had 229 for a massive 764. The Bulldogs would pick up another win, 1,048-831, over Texas Southern.

The Bulldogs again had three bowlers in the plus, but it would not be enough as Tech fell to No. 8 Sam Houston 1,046-1,056. Allyson Sand rolled a 252 in her second game of the day to lead the Bulldogs on the lanes. Leiendecker jumped up the rankings with a 234, and Trexler wasn't far behind with a 225.

The final match of the day came against No. 1 Vanderbilt, with all five Tech bowlers shooting over 180. However, that wouldn't be enough, as the Commodores won 1,094-1,045. Leiendecker moved up seven spots with a 255. Ashley Imhoff came in and shot a 210 for the second-highest score for the Bulldogs. Trexler shot a 202, Ong had a 194, and Sand rounded out the scoring with an 184.

With one more game to go, Leiendecker is in second with a 1,184 total for a 236.8 average. Trexler rolled a 1,153 (230.6 avg.) to sit in sixth and Ong had a 1,128 (225.6 avg.) to tie for eighth. Sand shot a 621 for three games for a 207 average.
