ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 9 Louisiana Tech bowling team opened its NCAA slate strong, totaling 5,024 pins and going 4-1 in Baker matches on the first day of the Destination Orlando event. The Bulldogs sit in fourth place out of 24 teams.
Tech earned a ranked win over No. 4 Youngstown State (1,012-972), the defending national champion, followed by a 987-873 victory over No. 14 Mount St. Mary's and a 1,067-906 win over No. 6 Arkansas State.
The Bulldogs fell 973-931 to No. 3 Vanderbilt before bouncing back with a 1,027-833 win over RV Emmanuel.
LA Tech returns to the lanes Saturday for five traditional matches, beginning with Texas Southern.
