Previewing the Blue Hens
Delaware enters Sunday's contest as just one of two CUSA teams with 10 wins alongside Liberty, yet are currently just two points ahead of Tech in the standings holding the No. 5 seed spot.
The Blue Hens posted an unbeaten 7-0-2 record in non-conference play before falling to FIU, 2-1, in their first CUSA match at home followed by a 1-1 tie against New Mexico State in Las Cruces. Delaware earned their first conference win the next match with a 2-1 victory over UTEP in El Paso.
The win over the Miners kickstarted a four-match unbeaten streak before seeing it snapped from a 2-0 shutout loss at home to Liberty, who currently leads the CUSA table.
The Blue Hens are led by Kelly Lawrence, who is in her third season serving as the gaffer for Delaware's women's soccer program. The 10 wins the Blue Hens have secured this season are the most in a single season for Lawrence since her arrival prior to the 2023 season.
Delaware secured their first conference tournament appearance under Lawrence in 2024, falling to No. 4 seed Hofstra in the first round of the CAA Tournament, 1-0.
Delaware has five players among the top 15 scorers in the conference, with three players tied for sixth with five goals each and two players each with four goals. The Blue Hens also have five players among the top 15 for total points, the most of any team in the league.
Lilli Lubic and Maggie Groh are tied for the team lead with 13 total points. Lubic is one of the three with five scores along with three assists, while Groh is tied for the team lead with five assists along with four goals.
