HOUSTON - The No. 9 Louisiana Tech bowling team opened the Track Kat Klash with a 4-1 record Friday on day one of the three day event.

The Bulldogs rolled a 4,790 across five games while earning two ranked wins.

Tech took down Prairie View 1,005-814 to start the day, followed by a close loss to #19 Tulane in their first two matches.

The Bulldogs closed the day with three straight wins, defeating Newman 898-898, No. 5 Wichita State 930-912, and No. 24 Oklahoma Christian 1,042-922.

LA Tech returns to the lanes Saturday for five traditional matches, beginning with Texas Southern.

"Today was anything but ordinary. The pattern played pretty tough during transition, and we saw a lot of teams struggling during that window. When the lanes get difficult, players start trying not to miss, which usually leads to bad shot-making instead of confident execution. We were able to move up after the final game today, and I believe that is because of the team we have—we can open the lane up a little better than some, and that worked to our advantage. Tomorrow we'll make a few ball adjustments before we start. The goal is to handle the transition and avoid getting caught behind it. Overall, we competed well, but we still need to clean up our spare shooting."
