Louisiana Tech got off to a hot start to open the day with a 940 in the first set. The Bulldogs rolled games of 221, 210, 243 and 266. They would follow that up with 204, 189, 201 and 241 for an 835 for a 1,775 and just 45 pins out of first.

Tech held firm in second place with a 202, 212, 182 and 249 for an 845 in the third set.

The lowest set of the morning would come in the final four-game stretch before the lunch break. The Bulldogs shot 208, 187, 206 and 167 for a 768. LA Tech would go into the break with a 3,388, only 35 behind first and 271 ahead of the cut.

After a reoil during the lunch break, Louisiana Tech picked up where they left off and took over the lead with a 912. The 'Dogs rolled 204 and 206 before catching fire and shooting 258 and 244.

Tech only had one turkey in the sixth set but still finished with a 785. However, that would drop them back down to second. The 'Dogs rolled games of 189, 214, 191 and 191.

The Bulldogs righted the ship and took back the lead by 52 pins after an 820 in the seventh set. Tech started and finished the set with 222s, with 194 and 182 in the middle. Even though the 'Dogs closed with their lowest set of the day at 744, the lead grew to 94 pins. LA Tech finished with solid games of 200, 188, 181 and 175.
