Trexler Advances to Quarterfinals of USBC ISC

LAS VEGAS — Kylee Trexler found her mark in match play to advance to her second straight quarterfinal appearance at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Trexler's only clean game of qualifying was the tournament opener. She would strike out in the 10th for a 211. From there, the left-hander had some bad breaks that left her with at least two opens a game. Trexler would leave the 7-9 three times, as well as the 6-7-8 and the 6-7 splits. However, she would still finish with 166, 211, 184, 168 and 221 for 1,161.

That would give her the 22nd seed and set her up with another lefty, 11th-seed Lorrie Decker. Trexler would take the early 60-pin advantage after shooting a 204 in game one. However, Decker would nearly cut the lead in half with a 216-189 game two.

The two bowlers would go shot-for-shot in the third game, with Decker taking a slight advantage through the first five frames. That would change after Trexler took advantage of a split by the bowler from Elmhurst and closed out the match with a clean 229 to Decker's 220 and won 622-580.

Trexler would advance to take on sixth-seed Karleigh LeMond of Sacred Heart in the second round. The Indiana native took advantage of LeMond's four opens and once again took a significant advantage after game one, shooting 192.

With a 41-pin lead, Trexler would start out with the front six before leaving a split. She would come away with a 232 to increase the lead to over 100. Trexler would cruise in game three with 195 for a 619-489.

UP NEXT
Trexler will take on third-seed Maya Avilez of North Carolina A&T starting at 9:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday. The winner will advance to the one game semifinals on Saturday.
