RUSTON – Sophomore defender
Madeline Gray has been named Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Gray played a pivotal role off the bench in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win over UTEP Friday night in LA Tech's CUSA opener at home. She scored the game-winner just before halftime early in the 42nd minute on an assist from freshman
Peyton Wiseman.
The Corinth, Mississippi native was also effective in keeping the Miners out of the net in the Bulldogs' defending end for the 29 minutes that she saw the pitch. Gray is the first Bulldog to receive weekly CUSA honors since
Dakota Merino was named Defensive Player of the Week on September 3, 2024.
Gray and the Bulldogs return to CUSA action on the road when they face the Sam Houston Bearkats at Pritchett Field in Huntsville, Texas on Sunday, September 28. First touch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
