LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 5 Louisiana Tech bowling team went 3-2 on the opening day of the Big Red Invite and sits seventh out of 12 teams with a total pinfall of 4,993.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament with back-to-back wins over No. 7 Maryville (1,014-955) and No. 4 Wichita State (1,028-1,006).
Tech dropped its third match to No. 2 Vanderbilt, 1,100-951, before bouncing back with a 1,031-894 victory against No. 8 Youngstown State.
LA Tech closed the day with a 1,009-970 loss to No. 14 Sam Houston.
Jax State leads the field with a 5,506 total pinfall, followed by Wichita State (5,155) and Maryville (5,108).
The Bulldogs return to the lanes Saturday at 10 a.m. for five traditional matches. LA Tech will open traditional play against No. 3 Arkansas State.
