The Bulldogs battle the Lumberjacks Saturday in their home opener

RUSTON – After having a trio of home matches postponed due to weather, No. 64 Louisiana Tech gets set for its official home opener on Saturday as the Bulldogs host Stephen F. Austin.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (5-2)
LA Tech checked in at No. 64 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national team rankings this week following a road sweep against UT Arlington and North Texas.  The Bulldogs shut out the Mavericks 7-0 and made a furious comeback to defeat the Mean Green 4-3.
 
Zoie Epps, Diana Starodubtseva, Maria Tsironi, and Isabella Walker each provided singles wins in both road matches.  Epps and Walker improved to 5-1 in the dual season as a result as the Bulldogs own a 24-15 overall record in dual singles this spring.
 
Epps and Walker have continued to team up in doubles, sporting a team-best 4-2 mark while playing at the No. 1 spot.  The tandem made history by debuting at No. 50 in the ITA doubles rankings, becoming the first Bulldogs to ever be nationally ranked.  Overall, the 'Dogs are 10-8 in dual doubles.
 
ABOUT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN (0-3)
The reigning Southland Conference regular season and tournament champion Stephen F. Austin is still in search of its first win of 2026, having dropped all three completed matches to Abilene Christian, North Texas, and Houston.
 
Under the direction of first-year head coach Drew Lambert, The Lumberjacks return their entire team that won 17 matches and claimed two league titles.  SFA is 4-14 overall in dual singles so far through three matches with Sonja Rooth leading the charge at 3-0 while playing at No. 2 and No. 3.
 
In dual doubles, the 'Jacks are a combined 3-4 with all three victories coming against the Mean Green when they claimed the opening doubles point.  SFA has used seven different doubles lineups.
 
THE SERIES
Saturday marks the 31st meeting between LA Tech and SFA on the courts with the Bulldogs owning a 21-9 series lead.  LA Tech has won eight of the last nine meetings, including a 7-0 shutout win in their last meeting in 2023.
