Brittany Mahaffey moved over to Business Operations as an Associate Director after a three-year stint as an assistant coach for the Louisiana Tech women's soccer team. One of the most decorated soccer players in LA Tech history came back to Ruston at the end of the 2019 season.

In 2021, she helped guide a squad with 18 newcomers, including 15 freshmen, to a 6-8-3 overall record and a 2-4-2 league mark. The team had a strong finish to the slate, going unbeaten in four of their last five matches in Conference USA including a draw with West Division champion Southern Miss and a 4-0 road victory at FIU in the season finale.

In the 2020-21 split season, LA Tech put together a 9-7 overall record, which included a four-game winning streak and a overtime shutout victory versus UTSA in league action.

Mahaffey, the former Beddow who married former Bulldog football player David Mahaffey, played for LA Tech from 2012-15 and spent two seasons as an assistant coach at ULM prior to returning to Ruston.

The left-footed midfielder was part of very successful teams for her four years as a Lady Techster, three of which were 12+ win seasons and included trips to the conference tournament.

Mahaffey still ranks in the top five in program history in several categories including career games played (83), career starts (76), career minutes played (5,944), career points (58), career assists (20), career shots (158) and career shots on goal (75).
