Kyle Kavanaugh is in his fourth year at Louisiana Tech University, where he serves as the Senior Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs and Chief Brand Officer. A proud LA Tech alumnus, Kavanaugh is a member of the Athletics Executive Staff and sport administrator for the soccer program, overseeing the growth of several critical components of the department’s external operations.

Since rejoining Louisiana Tech Athletics in 2022, Kavanaugh has led strategic growth across marketing, fan experience, creative video, broadcasting, and strategic communications. He created and implemented the department’s new “Bark Louder” campaign, designed to unify the Louisiana Tech brand, elevate fan engagement, and amplify the voice of Louisiana Tech Athletics across all platforms. He also founded the Blue Bloods student organization, aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement across Louisiana Tech Athletics.

Kavanaugh has overseen the development of LA Tech’s creative video department, which now serves as the central hub for storytelling, digital content creation, and brand-building across all sports programs, and the launch and structure of the department’s new in-house broadcasting and production team which serves to elevate the consistency and quality of live game streaming, video board production, and digital broadcasts across ESPN+ and other platforms. These two departments have helped elevate the department’s social and digital brand to new heights routinely breaking reach and engagement records. 

In addition to his external leadership, Kavanaugh serves as co-chair of the department’s Vision, Values, and Standards of Behavior Taskforce, helping to shape the cultural foundation of LA Tech Athletics and align its mission with everyday behaviors across student-athletes, coaches, and staff. He also manages relationships with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) platforms—including Brandr, INFLCR, Opendorse, and Bulldog Community Outreach—and serves as the liaison to LA Tech’s Band of Pride, Cheer squads, Regal Blues, and mascot, Champ.

Kavanaugh has led numerous grassroots engagement campaigns that connect the university’s student body, faculty, and staff with the broader Ruston and Lincoln Parish communities. He founded the Student Engagement Team to strengthen bonds between students and student-athletes and expanded community and school outreach efforts, including enhancements to Champ’s Kids Club.

Kavanaugh returned to Louisiana Tech as an Assistant AD of Strategic Communications serving as the primary media contact for Football, Women's Basketball, Soccer, Track & Field, and Bowling, before being named Associate AD of External Operations directing the department's marketing, promotions, and fan experience efforts while contributing as a content creator, graphic designer, photographer, and broadcast analyst for Lady Techster Basketball, and helped launch LA Tech’s “Build the Legacy” website.

A Benton, Louisiana native, Kavanaugh holds a B.S. in Biology Education and an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from LA Tech. He previously spent 15 years as a high school educator and coach, winning back-to-back state championships in boys’ basketball and a state runner-up title in track and field.

In 2019, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, co-founding two businesses and a podcast focused on coach education, leadership, and character development. He continues to consult with organizations globally on social media strategy, youth sports development, and ecological design in coaching.

Kyle resides in Ruston with his wife, Meghan, and their daughter, Kendall.
