LAREDO, Texas - Louisiana Tech will have an usually quick turnaround as the Bulldog golfers will be competing in the Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston at Laredo Country Club Friday and Saturday.

Tech, which just completed hosting the Argent Financial Classic on Tuesday, will compete in the 16-team, 54-hole event which includes two rounds on Friday and one round on Saturday. The Laredo Country Club is a 7,125-yard, par 72 course.

The Bulldogs finished second at its home event behind only 20th ranked LSU while defeating seven other teams, including 46th ranked Middle Tennessee. Head coach Jeff Parks team is currently ranked 72nd in the country as it continues its pursuit of an NCAA regionals bid.

This week the Bulldogs will be represented by seniors Cody Blankenship, Cody Santone and Patrick Blunt, junior Sam Forgan and sophomore Travis Wilmore. Blankenship, Santone and Forgan all finished in the top 10 this past week at the Argent Financial Classic.

Joining LA Tech and Houston at this weekend's event are Baylor, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Kansas, Lamar, UL-Lafayette, Mississippi State, Rice, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, UTSA and Virginia Commonwealth.

Arkansas won last year's event, shooting a team total of 32-under-par while Rice's Michael Whitehead was the individual champion, shooting 19-under-par for the 54 holes.
