BATON ROUGE, La. - Armed with one of its highest ranking in program history, 69th ranked Louisiana Tech will compete this weekend in the 12-team LSU National Invitation at the University Club Saturday and Sunday.
The Bulldogs are the highest ranked team in the Western Athletic Conference, edging the San Jose State Spartans at 74th.
Head coach Jeff Parks Bulldogs will join an impressive field that includes 235th ranked Boston College, 98th ranked Furman, 34th ranked Iowa, 61st ranked Iowa State, 24th ranked LSU, 60th ranked UL-Lafayette, 120th ranked Michigan, 106th ranked Minnesota, 90th ranked UNC-Wilmington, 53rd ranked Purdue and 27th ranked UT-Chattanooga.
The 54-hole event will include two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday at the 7,440-yard, par 72 home of the Tigers - the University Club. Tech will be represented at the event by Cody Blankenship, Jonathan Bale, Cody Santone, Sam Forgan and Travis Wilmore while Jack Lempke will compete as an individual.
Blankenship leads Tech with a 72.8 scoring average in eight tournaments this year followed by Santone (73.2), Forgan (73.5), Bale (73.8), Wilmore (74.2) and Lempke (75.2). Blankenship boasts Tech's top winning percentage, recording a 307-72 mark.
Tech is coming off a fifth place finish at the 16-team Border Olympics two weeks ago while the Bulldogs are 35-16 in their four spring tournaments thus far.
