DELHI, La. - Louisiana Tech junior Victor Lange - ranked 51st in the nation - shot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round of the Wallace Jones Invitational but fell one stroke shy of the individual title as he finished second overall at Black Bear Golf Course in Delhi Tuesday.
Lange finished the tournament at 10-under-par 206 (67-70-69=206) in the second-best 54-hole tournament score in school history but bogeyed the final hole of the tournament, falling one stroke behind individual medalist Calum Hill of host ULM.
As a team, Louisiana Tech finished the tournament in third at 3-over-par 867 (28-291-291=867), six strokes behind co-champions ULM and UALR at the par-72, 7,276-yard course.
Lange birdied four of the five holes from 12 through 16 and shot par on 17 before a bogey on the par-4, 461-yard hole 18 ended his day at 3-under-par and completed his tournament at 10-under-par. ULM's Hill fired a 6-under-par 66 for the day to catch Lange and claim the individual title at 11-under-par 205 for the tournament.
Mitchell Haddox finished the tournament tied for 23rd overall after carding a 5-over-par 221 (73-74-74=221) for the tournament. Ben Robinson tied for 27th at 6-over-par 222 as he was the third-best golfer contributing towards the team score while Brandon Newton, competing as an individual, matched Robinson's 6-over-par score for the tournament.
John Lewis Sams tied for 33rd overall at 7-over-par 223 while Jake Pritchard rounded out the team scorers by carding a 13-over-par 229 with a tournament-best score of 2-over-par 74 in Tuesday's round.
Hayden Frederick, also competing as an individual, finished tied for 53rd at 12-over-par 228 while Ryan Alford ended the tournament at 16-over-par 232, tying for 69th overall.
Louisiana Tech returns to action on March 30-31 as the Bulldogs head to Little Rock, Arkansas for the UALR-hosted First Tee Classic at Chenal Country Club.
