WEST POINT, Miss. - Louisiana Tech carded the sixth-best round of the day and moved up three spots to finish eighth at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship hosted by Mississippi State Tuesday.
Led by senior Victor Lange's even-par round, the Bulldogs leap-frogged Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and South Alabama on the final day of action as the team was 10-over-par on the final day. Louisiana Tech (+30) finished two strokes ahead of UL-Lafayette (+32) and four strokes ahead of Cincinnati (+34) while placing three strokes behind host Mississippi State (+27). McNeese State won the tournament at 2-over-par while Ole Miss (+8) was the runner-up.
Lange's even-par round moved him up nine spots into 10th place marking the South Africa native's sixth top-10 finish in eight tournaments this year. He finished the tournament at 2-over-par (75-71-72=218) with his final two rounds scoring par or under.
Chuck Spears also had a strong finish as he moved up 14 spots to place tied for 28th Tuesday. Spears, also a senior, was 2-over-par Tuesday to finish the three-round tournament at 8-over-par (76-74-74=224).
Ben Robinson again struggled in the final round, carding a 6-over-par 78 in Tuesday's action. He would drop 14 spots to tie for 49th overall, finishing 11-over-par (76-73-78=227).
Charles Neel White had the second-best score on the day, along with Chuck Spears, as his 2-over-par 74 pushed him up 13 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 63rd. White finished at 16-over-par (82-76-74=232). Hunter Glenn wrapped up the Bulldog contingent as he finished tied for 79th at 26-over-par (75-86-81=242).
Louisiana Tech returns to action on April 11-12 when the Bulldogs head to Bastrop, Texas for the Jim West Intercollegiate hosted by Texas State.
