Louisiana Tech head coach Jeff Jenkins
Opening statement:
"We got off to the exact start we were hoping to. I think we were three under through eight holes. As a team, that was exactly what we needed to do. I felt like if we could shoot anywhere from even par to four or five under today, we could get right up there. The turn really hurt us. We lost a lot of shots on holes 18 and one, two and three. Then we kind of started hanging in there, but at the end lost some shots. It wasn't the day we wanted, but at the same time we got off to the start we wanted. I just wish we would have been a little better down the stretch."
On the turn:
"It is hard to say [what makes the turn difficult]. There are just a couple of holes that have got us in a little bit of a funk. Eighteen and two are pretty tough holes. I can't put my finger on why. We just did not execute."
On Jacob Wyatt:
"He has played with some of the best players in the country. He is playing all-american golf at this point. If he can continue to set his mind on the good things he has done so far, it will give him a chance to play more great golf tomorrow. And who knows, he could advance to the national championship."
On the final round:
"We want to beat every single team we can possibly beat this week. At this point, we are playing for pride. We are going to play to the finish line and try to bring it tomorrow."
Freshman Jacob Wyatt
On his round two:
"I felt good all the way. I was pretty consistent. In the end, I would not change a thing I hit. I would not have done anything differently. I just had some bad breaks at the end."
On the finish to the round:
"[The wind] was a factor in some ways. I figured out the clubs that I needed to hit, but ended up having some bad breaks."
On confidence going into round three:
"The hole looked really big to me on the greens today. I was making a bunch of putts. It gave me a lot of great confidence for tomorrow. Like coach told me after the round, we had a little chat and he said, 'I have done more good than bad so far.' I agreed and just need to try to get even better tomorrow."
