Bowling Finalizes 2019-20 Schedule

RUSTON, La. – On Thursday afternoon, Louisiana Tech head bowling coach Matt Nantais announced his team's 2019-20 schedule, which features eight tournaments leading up to the Southland and NCAA Championships.

"I'm excited for this year to get started. I think this schedule will give us the opportunity to be very successful this year. As a team, our goal is to make it to the NCAA championships. With the group that we have this year I feel we have an excellent opportunity to meet that goal," said Nantais.

The Lady Techsters begin their season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational on October 18-20. The Lady Techsters knocked off three other top-25 teams to win the tournament last year with Ashley Channel putting together an All-Tournament performance.

Following its lone tournament in October, Tech embarks on an eventful November with three tournaments in 17 days.

The first of the three November tournaments is the Track Kat Klash, hosted by Sam Houston State. The Lady Techsters went 8-5 in the tournament last season, including a win over the then-no. 4 Bearkats.

As with the 2018-19 campaign, Tech follows the Track Kat Klash with a trip to Jackson State to compete in the JSU Sonic Boom Invitational. Louisiana Tech won the tournament in come-from-behind fashion last season, defeating the hosting Tigers 4-2 in the championship round.

The Lady Techsters close out November at Alabama State's Hornet Classic. Tech placed second in the tournament in 2018, dropping the championship round to UAB by just four pins.

After an eventful November, the Lady Techsters will have to wait until 2020 to compete again. Tech travels to the Kutztown Invitational (January 17-19) and Saints Invite (January 24-26) to open the new year. The team's lone February tournament will be Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Invitational.

The Lady Techsters open a busy March by competing at the Music City Classic (March 6-8) before the USBC Sectionals the following week. The Southland Conference Championship will be March 20-22 in Dallas, Tex. with a possible bid to the NCAA Championships (April 9-11) to follow. Tech's final opportunity to compete will be April 13-18 at the USBC Intercollegiate Championships.
