LA Tech Clashes with Marshall For Three-Game Conference Set

The Bulldogs begin the series Friday at 1 p.m. CT

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech is on the road for a conference series with Marshall over the weekend. Instead of playing game three on Sunday the two schools will play game one Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT. Saturday will be a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT with the second game following 30 minutes after.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (23-10, 9-3 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off of a midweek series split with UL-Lafayette and a three-game conference series sweep of the Rice Owls.
 
The Bulldog pitching staff was dominant over the weekend versus Rice posting 41 total strikeouts with 14 of them coming from Saturday starter Ryan Jennings. The staff held the Owls to just seven runs on the weekend.
 
Taylor Young leads the squad in nine different hitting categories. The senior shortstop also leads the conference with 41 runs scored and four triples as he collected one over the weekend.
 
Bulldog designated-hitter Walker Burchfield made his presence known at the plate over the weekend. Burchfield was 7-for-16 over his last four starts at the DH spot with two homers, two doubles and nine RBI.
 
The Bulldogs will stick with the same pitching rotation as last week. Cade Gibson will get the Friday afternoon start. Ryan Jennings will throw game one on Saturday and game two is to be determined.
 
ABOUT MARSHALL (15-18-1, 4-8 C-USA)
Marshall rolls into play winning its midweek matchup over Ohio 10-3 and dropping two of three to Middle Tennessee.
 
Luke Edwards leads the club with a .347 batting average over 144 at-bats. Edwards is also tied for first on the team with eight home runs.
 
Ryan Leitch is right behind Edwards with a .321 batting average with a team-best 12 doubles. The sophomore is also tied for first with Edwards at eight homers.
 
THE SERIES
The Bulldogs and Herd will meet for the 24th time on Friday night with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 13-10. The two schools met four times last year in Ruston as the Bulldogs and Herd split the series 2-2. The last time the schools met in West Virginia the Bulldogs swept the three-game series back in 2018.
