Bulldogs Ready for a CUSA Semifinal Matchup Against Liberty

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will face to take on the Liberty in the C-USA Conference Tournament semifinals on Nov. 3, at 7 PM at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.

ABOUT #6 LOUISIANA TECH (6-10-3) (2-4-2)
Kalli Matlock's first-half goal, combined with some shutdown defense, propelled No. 6 seed Louisiana Tech to a 1-0 upset victory over No. 3 seed WKU on a chilly Wednesday night at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.
Each squad had five shots in the first half, but it was senior Kalli Matlock who ended up finding the back of the net. Nearing halftime in the 40th minute, the wing-back made her way inside the 18 gaining possession of the ball.
After securing a 1-0 halftime advantage, LA Tech kept the pressure on, maintaining possession for much of the second half. The Bulldogs ended up with a plethora of 50-50 balls, helping generate a 7-3 shot advantage and a 5-3 corner kick edge.
ABOUT #2 LIBERTY (14-2-1) (4-2-1)
Liberty secured a 4-1 victory against Louisiana Tech on Sunday, Oct. 29 in Ruston. Liberty's Ava Goodman scored back-to-back goals in the 9th and 11th minute. Goodman's 11th-minute goal was assisted by Bridie Herman. Liberty's Saydie Holland would score in the 21st minute and Sallie Garner helped with an assist. The last Liberty goal came from Claire Valentine in the 27th minute which was assisted by Avenley Monteith.
THE SERIES
Liberty now leads the series 1-0-0 after its 4-1 victory against Louisiana Tech. The Flames win on Sunday was the first time the two schools have ever faced off in history. This C-USA Conference Semifinal would be match-up number two in the series.
