The Bulldogs square off on the road against two CUSA opponents this weekend
RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Tennis team heads west to take on a pair of Conference USA opponents in New Mexico State and UTEP this weekend. This will be two of LA Tech's four CUSA matches this regular season.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (8-4)
LA Tech picked up its second straight win this past Sunday, outlasting in-state rival Northwestern State in a near four-hour marathon in Natchitoches that ended with the Bulldogs prevailing, 4-3.
The 'Dogs were able to claim the opening doubles point and combined that with three singles wins, capped off by Tiffani Nash winning in three sets on court four for the clincher. In doing so, the senior extended her singles winning streak to four while also claiming her 40th career singles win.
LA Tech is 41-23 in dual singles this spring, led by Olga Bienzobas who has won nine straight in route to an 11-1 record from the top position. She has now won four straight matches via straight sets including a 6-3, 6-3 victory over the Lady Demons.
She is also part of the top doubles teams, partnering up with Alexia Romero to produce a 6-6 mark in duals. The duo have won three straight and are now 6-6 this spring while the team is a combined 16-13.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE (2-6)
New Mexico State opened the spring with a 5-2 win at home over Weber State but have dropped six of its last seven matches. Most recently, the Aggies suffered road losses this past weekend to Texas State and Incarnate Word by scores of 6-1 and 5-2, respectively.
They are a combined 15-29 in dual singles, anchored by Natsuki Nishimura and Anna Pinaieva who each have four wins this spring. Pinaieva has played all eight of her matches from the No. 1 position.
The two also team up in doubles, having registered a 4-4 mark from the top spot. NM State is a combined 11-10 in dual doubles.
The Aggies hold a 4-1 advantage in the series over the Bulldogs from their time in the Western Athletic Conference together. LA Tech did win the last matchup, which was a 6-1 victory in 2013.
ABOUT UTEP (1-8)
UTEP opened the spring with a 7-0 shutout victory over Western New Mexico, but the Miners have since dropped eight straight. Most recently, they lost 6-0 at New Mexico this past weekend.
The Miners are a combined 12-34 in dual singles, led by Carlotta Mencaglia who has three of their wins (two of which have come from the No. 1 spot). She also teams up with Hanna Telzynska in dual doubles, going 5-4 from the No. 2 position. As a team, UTEP is a combined 9-14 in dual doubles.
UTEP and LA Tech are tied, 3-3, in the overall series. The Miners won the first three meetings while the Bulldogs have claimed the last three, including a 4-0 victory in Ruston last season.
