The Bulldogs are slated for their first top 25 matchup since 2022.
NORMAN, Okla. – Louisiana Tech soccer continues its five-match road trip, taking on the No. 20 Oklahoma Sooners at John Crain Field in Norman on Thursday, August 28 at 7 p.m. CT. This will be the first time in program history the two clubs take the pitch together for competition.

This is the fourth time LA Tech faces a nationally ranked opponent and the third time playing one on the road. The last time the Bulldogs faced a top 25 team goes back to September 1, 2022, when Tech fell to No. 13 Ole Miss in Oxford, 5-0. Tech also fell in a close battle, 2-1, to No. 24 Rice on September 24, 2021, in Houston when the Owls were members of Conference USA.
The Bulldogs' first ranked matchup was back in 2012, hosting No. 19 Denver in Ruston and competing to a 1-1 draw after double overtime on October 5 when LA Tech was competing in the Western Athletic Conference.
Tech fell to South Alabama, 2-0, their last time out on Thursday, September 24 in Mobile. It was the first match of the season the Bulldogs were held without a goal, but still proved to be efficient with their shot attempts putting six of their eight on target.
Previewing the Sooners:
Oklahoma's offense has been firing on all cylinders since the start of the new campaign, entering Thursday's match with a perfect 4-0 record and have scored four goals in all four matches. The Sooners are 4-0 to start a season for the third time in program history and for the first time since 2009.
The Sooners have not conceded more than one goal in a competition this year, taking 4-1 victories at home over Creighton and in-state rival Oklahoma State. A 4-0 victory over East Texas A&M concluded OU's three-match homestand to open the year before defeating Tulsa, 4-1, for their first road contest of 2025.
OU is led by head coach Matt Mott, who is in his third year as the Sooners' gaffer. Since arriving to Norman ahead of the 2023 season, Mott has amassed a 22-17-3 record. In 2024, Mott led OU to their first 10-win season since 2016, setting a single-season program record with 38 goals scored.
In Mott's 15 years as a head soccer coach, he has seen the development of six All-Americans, 20 All-Region selections, 25 All-Conference selections, one SEC Freshman of the Year, six All-Freshman and 26 Conference Players of the Week. During his time at Ole Miss, Mott led the Rebels to six of the program's 10 NCAA Tournament appearances including a pair of Sweet 16 appearances in 2015 and 2020, finishing his tenure in Oxford with a 139-97-32 record.
The Sooners are led by Naomi Clark, who leads the club with five goals, 10 total points, 17 shots and 12 shots in frame for a .706 SOG percentage. The Washington State transfer scored a pair of goals in each of the first two matches for OU, one of which was a game-winner against Oklahoma State. Her lone goal at Tulsa proved to be the game-winner as well in their three-goal victory over the Golden Hurricane.
Alexis Washington is one of five players to lead OU with two assists thus far, most recently picking up her 20th career assist in the win at Tulsa to set a new program record. Caroline Duffy has been the primary mainstay in goal for OU, missing just 11 minutes off the pitch this year. The senior keeper has a GAA of 0.77 through four starts, allowing three goals on 24 shots faced with 13 total saves.
