RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech soccer team will host App State on Thursday, Sept. 24 to open Sun Belt play at home. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. CT at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.Â

The Bulldogs (2-5-2, 0-0-1 Sun Belt) return to Ruston after a 1-1 tie against Marshall last Saturday.Â
Izzy Wilson scored her first career goal against the Thundering Herd with a beautiful shot that soared over the goalie. Mackenzie Lorkowski added nine saves to her total, including a crucial penalty kick save in the seventh minute. With three more saves, she will enter into the top ten career saves all-time for the Bulldogs, passing Tara Gavlak.Â
Brielle Buchanan also has two milestones she is close to clearing. With three more total shots, she will be number nine in Bulldogs history. With two more shots on goal, she will pass Annabel Prior and be #10 all-time in Bulldog history.Â
App State (6-1-2, 1-0-0 Sun belt) comes to Ruston after a 1-0 victory against Georgia State. The Mountaineers are tied for the second best record in the Sun Belt. They are only behind UL-Lafayette (7-2-1). App State has not lost since their very first game of the season against UNCW. This season, App State is holding opponents to just 0.78 goals per game. Their leading scorer is Libby Bermingham, with five goals, including two-game winners. They are led by head coach Aimee Haywood, who has a career record of 35-230-17 at the school.Â
This will be the first matchup between Louisiana Tech and App State.
