RUSTON – After spending all last week on the road, the Louisiana Tech baseball team is back home for four games this week starting with a midweek contest against Sacramento State.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (12-12)
LA Tech went into Bowling Green this past weekend and took two of three from WKU to win the road conference series. The Bulldogs ended up sweeping the Saturday doubleheader, winning narrowly by scores of 5-3 and 3-2 before falling in the Sunday finale.
Logan McLeod continued to swing a hot bat for the Bulldogs, collecting five hits versus the Hilltoppers in the series. The infielder has upped his batting average to .286, the second highest on the team. Over the nine games, he is hitting .367 with multiple hits in four games.
On the mound, LA Tech got two quality starts from Alec Sparks and Jonathan Fincher in the two victories over WKU. Sparks went a season-high 6.0 innings in route to his second victory of the year. Meanwhile, Fincher had his fourth straight quality start, going 6.1 innings while allowing zero runs with a season-high nine strikeouts.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE (12-11)
Sacramento State, who was voted to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference preseason poll, got off to a hot start, winning six of its first seven games. However, the Hornets have cooled off as of late dropping seven of their last 11 games. Included in that was a pair of series losses to Grand Canyon and Abilene Christian to open up WAC play.
The Hornets took one game in each of the two WAC series. They prevailed in the first game of the ACU series, 8-4, this past weekend but then got run-ruled by the Wildcats in games two and three.
Sacramento State is batting .271 as a team with 73 extra-base hits, including 25 home runs. Wehiwa Aloy has the led the charge offensively for the Hornets, batting .378 with seven doubles, two triples, and four homers.
Defensively, the Hornets rank top 40 in the country in double plays turned with 20. They have also registered two shutouts this season.
THE SERIES
LA Tech leads the all-time series versus Sacramento State, 17-14. The two programs played all 31 games as league foes in the WAC from 2006-13. They last faced one another in a conference series in 2013 in Sacramento, California with the Hornets taking two of three. Sacramento State last visited Ruston in 2012.
The Bulldogs had a stretch where they won 10 of 11, but the Hornets have won four of the last five meetings.
