Louisiana Tech secures their first win in Nacogdoches in program history.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Louisiana Tech closes out the month of August and their two-match road trip with a 3-1 win over Stephen F. Austin at the SFA Soccer Field in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Sunday's result marks the first time the Bulldogs (2-2-1) have consecutive road wins in non-conference play since the adjusted 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also the first victory for the 'Dogs in Nacogdoches in program history, entering the match with an 0-3 record when playing the Ladyjacks (1-4-0) on their home pitch.
The Bulldogs built a two-score lead that opened with a swift strike by Juliette Starck early in the fifth minute of the match, recording her first collegiate goal on an assist by Abby Hanton. The advantage was doubled with Madison Pensom's third goal of the season in the 31st minute on assists from Starck and Hanton. Starck delivered a pass to Hanton near the right side of the box, who crossed it in on the first touch to Pensom, who found the back of the net on her first touch.
Reagan Roberts added some insurance in the second half, scoring her second goal of the season and third of her career in the 54th minute from outside the penalty box following a crisp pass by Brielle Buchanan for her first assist as a Bulldog. It was the second LA Tech goal scored from outside the penalty area of the evening.
SFA cut into the deficit in the 65th minute, scoring on a cross that found the net after deflecting off of a LA Tech defender. A red card was given to the LA Tech side with just over 10 minutes left of play, forcing the Bulldogs to play with 10 players. However, the Soccer 'Dogs stood their ground and maintained the advantage.
LA Tech returns to Ruston to open up a three-match homestand, beginning with the McNeese Cowgirls on Thursday, September 3 at Robert Mack Caruthers Field. First touch of the match is set for 7 p.m. CT, and will be streamed on ESPN+.

"It was another gutsy performance. We scored early, and were on the front foot for a lot of the game. I think we could've scored a couple more, but we will take a win and move on. A missed penalty, an own goal, a red card--we did it all and still found a way to secure the win. Two great wins on the road this week against two good opponents, who both beat us last year. I'm very proud of my team and my staff, and we are excited to play back at home Thursday."
