Bulldogs Drop Thursday Contest To McNeese In Home Return

Louisiana Tech recorded double-digit numbers in shots for the second-straight match and third time overall this season.
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech fell short in their return to the home pitch Thursday night, dropping the contest, 2-0, to McNeese at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.
McNeese (4-3-0) found the back of the net for the first score of the game with just under eight minutes left in the first half on a corner serve by Morgan Fiedler to a header by Caitlyn Trosclair. The Cowgirls nearly doubled the Bulldogs' (2-3-1) first-half shot total with 13 to LA Tech's seven. Freshman Mackenzie Lorkowski added five saves in the first 45 minutes.
McNeese's 13 first-half shots were the most by an opposing team against the Bulldogs this season. The Bulldogs managed just one shot in frame through the first 45 minutes—tied for the team's fewest in any half this year.
The Bulldogs appeared to equalize in the 51st minute, but Izzy Wilson was ruled offside by the line judge. After undergoing a lengthy review that lasted around five minutes, the officiating crew determined that the call of offside was upheld, and the game remained a 1-0 score in favor of the visiting side.
McNeese scored the brace late in the 64th minute for their second goal off a corner set piece, this time assisted by Isabella Baltov and scored by Vitoria Mitre.
The Bulldogs are back on the road to Natchitoches on Sunday, September 6 to take on Northwestern State at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex. First touch of the contest is set for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
