RUSTON – Louisiana Tech soccer will play its first ever Sun Belt contest against Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Huntington, W. Va. at Hoops Family Field. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. CT.Â

The Bulldogs (2-5-1) travel to Huntington, W. Va. to open Sun Belt play after suffering a 1-3 loss to No. 15 Texas State last Sunday night.Â
With a goal in the 49th minute, Abby Hanton extended her goal-scoring streak to two games and now shares the top scorer position with Madison Pensom. The assist came from Brielle Buchanan, her second of the season.Â
Mackenzie Lorkowski racked up eight saves, bringing her total to 63 for the year. With twelve more saves, she will pass Tara Gavlak in career saves and become the player with the tenth most. Gavlak recorded 74 saves in 20 total games.Â
Marshall enter Saturday night with a 4-2-2 record, coming off a 4-2 win against Bellarmine. The Thundering Herd's leading scorer is Wiktoria Mikrut, with seven goals. She has also recorded 33 shots, tied for first in the Sun Belt. Marshall is led by head coach Rafa Simoes, who, in his second season, coached the team to a Sun Belt tournament appearance last season, after missing it the two previous years.Â
The last time the Bulldogs and Thundering Herd faced off was on October 27, 2019, where the 'Dogs claimed victory 3-2. The last game in Huntington, was on Oct. 21, 2018. That game ended in a 2-2 tie after two overtime periods. Â The two teams have only ever played as members of Conference USA.Â
