Bulldog soccer is coming off a 0-2 loss to conference-leader App State in a historic night for the true freshman goalkeeper Mackenzie Lorkowski.Â
With her third save of the night, she passed Tara Gavlak and entered the Louisiana Tech record books, now having the tenth most saves in program history (75). She would end the game with 5 saves, pushing her career total to 77. It took Lorkowski only nine games to reach this mark. Her 77 saves and 8.56 saves per game lead all of Division-1.Â
The Bulldogs' struggled offensively against the Mountaineers, being held to zero shots on goal for the first time this season. Despite this, Madison Pensom recorded a career high six shots.
Southern Miss (4-3-2, 1-1-0 SBC) returns to Hattiesburg after a 1-0 victory against Arkansas State Thursday afternoon. The Golden Eagles were led by Lorilee Taylor, who scored the lone goal. She also had five shots, with two of them being on goal. Ava Bynes, the leading scorer for Southern Miss this season, was credited with the assist.Â
The Golden Eagles' head coach is Danny Owens, who is in his first year coaching Division-1. He previously coached at NAIA William Carrey for 20 years, leading the Lady Crusaders to a 147-16-5 regular season conference record.Â
The last matchup between the Bulldogs and Golden Eagles was Sept. 7, 2025, a 0-1 loss for Louisiana Tech.Â
