HAMMOND- The Louisiana Tech Volleyball team hits the road to compete in The Battle for the Boot tournament this weekend. Southeastern will host LA Tech, Southern, ULM, and Northwestern Friday and Saturday at the University Center in Hammond, LA.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (5-6)
LA Tech finished the Central Arkansas Invitational 2-1 defeating ULM and UCA last weekend. Over the past week, the Lady Techsters were ranked nationally as fourth in total digs, ninth in total kills, and tenth in total service aces. McKenzie Johnson also ranked nationally in
Two Lady Techsters earned All-Tournament honors, Andrea Spasojevic and Ashley Jones. Spasojevic finished with 44.5 points, along with 40 kills and 30 digs to record her fourth double-double in a row. Jones collected 9 aces, 98 assists, and 22 digs.
ABOUT SOUTHERN (0-9)
Southern enters into the Battle for the Boot after dropping three matches in the New Orleans Invitational last weekend against New Orleans (1-3), Lamar University (2-3), and Western Illinois (1-3).
Southern's Xaria Taylor and Janelle Pye-Blacknard both finished their match against Lamar and Western Illinois with 12 kills.
ABOUT NORTHWESTERN (4-3)
Northwestern will be entering the Battle for the Boot with a match-up against Southeastern in Hammond tonight to start their conference play. In six of the seven matches so far this season, NSU has led their opponent in total blocks, the only exception being the 8-6 margin at Missouri.
The Lady Demon's came out on top (3-1) against Jackson State Tuesday night to give them their 10th straight win against the Tigers and tying their second-longest winning streak. Breanna Burell and Symone Wesley the way with combined six kills in the opening set.
ABOUT SOUTHEASTERN (8-2)
The Lady Lions enter the weekend coming off of two successful road trips, taking two out of three matches each at the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic in Stephenville, Texas, and the Jack Kaiser Classic in Queens, NY.
Cicily Hidalgo and Kailin Newsome continue to rank near the top of the SLC in kills per set average, leading a Lady Lion squad that enters the weekend second in the SLC as a team in that category (13.24).
The Lions have won each of the past three meetings and through the first three weeks of the season saw three different players earn Southland Player of the Week honors.
